Thanks to a generous donor and donor family, I was given 16 more years with my dad, Tom Jorgensen, who received a liver transplant on April 30th, 1989.  Our lives were forever touched and impacted by his transplant.  I joined the staff of Iowa Donor Network in 1994, in hopes to make a difference in others lives and to support donor families.  Again, in 2005, we were touched by the power of donation, when my dad received a kidney from a living donor.  This allowed him to live his last year to the fullest.  I can't imagine my life without donation and transplantation, and I hope through continuing to support IDN, others lives will be touched, and donor families will be provided all the care and support they deserve.  Donors are heroes - and never forgotten.
