Q.  What makes Iowa Donor Network's Green 5K so special?  

A. The Green 5K brings together hundreds of supporters of organ, eye and tissue donation to celebrate the gift of life.

Q. Do I have to register to participate? 

A. All participants, supporters, and attendees are encouraged to register so we can properly account for all individuals in attendance from a safety perspective. All proceeds from the Green 5K benefit Iowa Donor Network programs and save and improve lives.

Q. What is included in my race packet?  

A. Your race packet will include information regarding the day of the event including timelines, sponsors, and vendors. If you are a Runner, your packet will also include your race bib. Also included in your race packet will be a $2 vendor coupon and a collectible lapel pin.

Q. Do we receive any swag?

A. Each participant will receive a discount code to their email to purchase items from Iowa Donor Network's Apparel Store! With each fundraising milestone you reach from your PERSONAL FUNDRAISING PAGE your discount code increases, so get fundraising! Be sure to share your personal fundraising page or request your supporters to search your name when making a contribution.

Registration: $8 Coupon
$100 Rasied: $10 Coupon
$250 Raised: $20 Coupon
$500 Raised: $40 Coupon
$1,000 Raised: $80 Coupon

Coupons will be sent out via email following the 5K. Please be sure to check your spam/junk email within 2 weeks following the race. Coupons will only include money raised PRIOR to the event.

Q.  When is the last day I can register and still guarantee a race packet?  

A. April 24, 2023 is the last day to register for the Green 5K and still be guaranteed the race swag.

Q.  Can I register the day of the event? 

A.  Yes, you can. Registering for the 5K prior to race day is encouraged and the only way to guarantee you will receive the event race packet and be able to register as a Runner and receive a bib. Please note the cost for registration will increase for day-of registrations.

Q.  I live out of state. Can I still participate virtually?  

A.  Yes. We love to see our supporters from around the United States support Iowa Donor Network and organ, eye and tissue donation. Choose "Virtual Adult" or "Virtual Youth" to partipate in the 5K from afar. 

Q. Will this race be timed?  

A.  Yes. 5K race times will be collected for those who register as Runners only. If youth would like to be timed they must register as a Runner. 

Q. Is there an age limit on how young or old a competitor can be?  

A. No. But please check with your doctor first if you have concerns.

Q.  Are there refunds?  

A. Unfortunately, we are not able to issue refunds for this event.

Q. When and where is packet pick-up?  

A. Packet pick-up for the 2023 Green 5K at the Altoona Iowa Donor Network Office. See below for the days and times.

Q.  Do I have to fundraise? 

A.  We do not require all participants to fundraise. Fundraising is encouraged and welcomed to help keep special programs and events for donor families running.

Q.  When does fundraising end?  

A. Fundraising for the 2023 Green 5K will end on June 2nd.

Q.  What do I do with money I have collected offline?  

A. Donations collected offline can be mailed to Iowa Donor Network, c/o Anna Hobart, 550 Madison Ave., North Liberty, IA 52317 or delivered to an Iowa Donor Network office. If the money should be directed towards a specific team's fundraising goals, please specify.

Q.  Who should checks be made out to?  

A. Check contributions for your team should be made out to Iowa Donor Network. Please be sure to include the team or fundraiser's name in the memo line.

Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?  

A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible.

Q. Will there be COVID Precautions in place?  

A. Iowa Donor Network will be taking into consideration CDC guidelines, along with the Polk County Public Health recommendations for large in-person events as the date nears for the Green 5K. Some precautions such as masks, vaccinations and number of attendees may be considered. Regulations on these items will be provided and communicated closer to the event by the Race Director.
